Rod Hopkins

Christian husband and father, devoted Papaw, loyal friend, and respected public servant, Rod Hopkins, 74, stepped over into Heaven on Sunday, August 14, 2016. Rod was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Edward and Lola Oxley Hopkins; brothers, Kerry “Bo” Hopkins and Kenny Wayne Hopkins, and his aunt who raised him, Gladys Hopkins DeBose. Rod is survived by his wife 51 of years, Frances Faust Hopkins; son, Scott Hopkins and wife, Lisa, of Bethany, Oklahoma; daughter, Ginger Stephens and husband, Brent, of Nacogdoches, Texas; son, Clay Hopkins of Many; five grandchildren, Jessica Jackson and husband, Kyle, Jacob Hopkins, Cade Hopkins, Hunter Stephens, and Cole Stephens; aunt, Ruby Duncan of Grand Prairie, Texas, and many loved cousins, nieces and nephews. Rod was born in Shreveport, on October 10, 1941. He moved to Many, as a young child and has been a life-long resident ever since. Rod graduated from Many High School in 1959.

Elnora Lowe

Funeral Services for Elnora Lowe, 80, of DeRidder, were held August 17 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ray Dyess officiating. Burial followed in the Shiloh Cemetery in Converse. Elnora was born on Saturday, October 26, 1935 in Noble. She passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016 at Toledo Nursing Center in Zwolle. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ella Kain Webb; husband, Cecil Lowe; brothers, James Chester Webb and Alan Webb and sister, Mildred Webb. She is survived by her sister, Cleo Remedies and husband, Eldon, of Zwolle; nephews, Ray Darden and wife, Cherri, of Converse, Roy Darden of Converse, and Ed Darden and wife, Cynthia, of Converse; niece, Marilyn McCormic and husband, Brian, of Many; special grand niece, Tori Darden of Converse, along with a host of friends. Pallbearers were Jonathan Wagstaff, Derrick Darden and Trent Darden.

Lloyd Ezernack

Graveside services for Loyd Joseph Ezernack, 64, of Zwolle, were held August 20 at Old Zwolle Cemetery with Father Richard Norsworthy officiating. Loyd Joseph Ezernack was born on Tuesday, January 22, 1952 in Zwolle. He passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Sabine Retirement & Rehabilitation Center in Many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert Ezernack and Victoria Santos Ezernack; and five brothers. He is survived by his stepson, Lee Wayne Carpenter, Sr. of Many; sisters, Carolyn Ann Vines of Zwolle, Juanita Sepulvado and husband, Chester, of Noble, Vickie Horton of Zwolle, and Francis Gene and husband, Kenny, of Texas; brothers, Larry Ezernack and wife, Karen, of Keithville, Patrick Ezernack of Danville, Illinois, Steve Ezernack and wife, Doris, of Zwolle, and Bobby Ezernack and wife, Carolyn, of Stonewall; grandchildren, Lee Wayne Carpenter, Jr.

Andy Labor

Andrew “Andy” Labor, 80, of Zwolle passed away with peace and grace on August 16, 2016 at home surrounded by family. Labor was born August 23, 1935 in Gilliam. He was the son of the late Ms. Lizzie Falcon Rachael and is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Jane Pratt Labor and brother, Bobby Labor. Andrew worked for the Caddo Parish School board for 23 years and retired in 1993. He and Mary Jane moved to Zwolle where they became kind and loving business owners of his passion, B&B Grocery & Hardware for more than 20 years. He was a father, grandfather, and friend, who enjoyed coaching softball, building pirogues, taxidermy, hunting, fishing and making homemade fishing bait. He always had some kind of project going on that involved working with his hands.

Helen Elliot

Services for Helen Elaine Vines Elliott of Shreveport were held at Little Flock Baptist Church in Many on August 13 under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Helen was born in Clara on July 27, 1944 to Ralph and Ester Vines of Many. She passed away on August 9, 2016 at the age of 72. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Kirk Vines and Ralph Elliott. She is survived by her sister, Nelwyn Vines Turner; sons, Craig C. Causey of Keithville, and Clint B. Causey of Shreveport; grandchildren, Clayton Causey and Amber Rice of Shreveport; great grandchildren, Camden Causey and Paisly Rice and nephews, Keith Tate, Shane Tate, Tracy Vines, Bradley Vines and Ryan Vines. Helen touched so many lives with her friendship and laughter. She will always be loved and never forgotten.

Funeral services for Lisa Michele Withers were held August 13 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel in Many. Interment followed at the Mitchell Cemetery in Anacoco. Lisa was born on January 6, 1968 in Many to Dale Withers and Brenda Graham Noe. She died Monday, August 8, 2016 in Sulphur, at the age of 48 years 7 months and 2 days. Lisa graduated from high school in Minden. She later graduated from nursing school in hreveport receiving her Licensed Practical Nursing degree in 1991. Lisa had spent the past five years in Sulphur living with her father. Survivors include her daughter, Karli Boyet of Shreveport; sons, Kyle Boyet of Pottsboro, Texas, Dawson Hinson of Sulphur and Jeremy Flores of Shreveport; father, Dale Withers of Sulphur; mother, Brenda Noe of Natchitoches; sister, Lori Haddock; brothers, Nick Noe of Natchitoches and Joe Withers of Sulphur; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, the Rev.

Judy Keene

Funeral Services for Judy Keene, 74, of Bonham, Texas were held August 15 at First United Methodist Church in Bonham, Texas under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Dr. Tommy Brumett officiated with the assistance of the Reverends Mark Fortney and Dana Coker. Burial followed at Willow Wild Cemetery. Judy passed away from ALS Lou Gehrig’s Disease Wednesday night, August 10, 2016 surrounded by loved ones. Judy was born in Pineville on March 31, 1942, the daughter of Howard Edward Small and Rena Mae Funderburk. She was a 1960s graduate of Lufkin High School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Stephen F. Austin University and later went on to teach at Port Lavaca, Edna, and Bells ISD.

Joyce Crooks

Funeral services honoring the life of Joyce Ann Crooks, 72, were held August 1 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Zwolle with Father Timothy Hurd officiating. Burial followed at St. Joseph’s in Zwolle. Joyce was born on February 15, 1944 in Zwolle to Walter and Elva Crooks, and passed away on July 27, 2016. Her laughter and smile could make the worst day the best day. She loved with all her heart and those hugs always made it alright. Preceding her in death were her parents, Walter and Elva Crooks; brothers, Ray Crooks, Joseph Freddie Crooks, Harold Crooks, and Charles Crooks; sister, Cleo Ezernack; and great grandchildren Layla Sepulvado and McKenzie Walraven. She is survived by her sons, John Dale Walraven Jr.
