Brenda DuBois

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Brenda DuBois was held June 11 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Claude Weatherford officiating. Burial followed at Bellwood Cemetery in Bellwood. Brenda, 65 years of age and a resident of Many, passed away June 6, 2017. She was born on December 6, 1951. She was the daughter of John Norman Rachal, Sr. and Shirley Norsworthy Rachal and lived in Natchitoches for many years. Brenda earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Northwestern State University and taught at L.P. Vaughn for many years. She took pleasure in being a positive influence and shaping the minds of all her students. A member of Central Baptist Church in Robeline, she enjoyed fellowship with her church family. Brenda was an avid traveler; she always enjoyed exploring new places. Most importantly she loved her family and valued spending time with her husband, children, siblings, grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.

Shirley Britt

Funeral services for Shirley Lawrence Britt, 65, of Many were held June 11 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Cyle Clayton and Bro. Bob Allerdyce officiating. Burial followed in the Progress -Cumberland Cemetery, Pleasant Hill. She was born Tuesday, March 4, 1952 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at her residence in Many. A beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend anyone who knew Shirley knew that her love for her family was unconditional. Her world revolved around her three boys and would always brag about their recent accomplishments with the biggest smile on her face. Along with her sons, she had a deep love for her five grandchildren. Her last days were spent caring for her grandchildren, her treasured mother and all of her animals that she loved so dearly. Her love and affections carried over in to the field of education. A life-long educator, she worked at Many Elementary for 30 years.

She was born on Sunday, February 12, 1928 in Many, and passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017 at her residence in Many. She was preceded in death by her husband, B. J. Tidwell, Jr.; parents, Willie Ambrose Dew and Helen Hayes Dew; and siblings, Verlyn Turner, Homer Dew, and Kenneth R. Dew, Sr. She is survived by her son, Chris Tidwell and fiancée, Laura Davis of Florien; sister, Betty Dew Welch of Houston, Texas; brother, Franklin Dew and wife, Clarice of Many; grandchildren, Tristen, Haylee and Hayden Tidwell; nieces and nephews, Amanda Welch of Houston, Texas, Becky Paramore of Deer Park, Texas, Randy Welch of Huntsville, Texas, Diane Carter of Many, Ken Dew, Jr.

Funeral services for Keith Brockton Etheridge of Zwolle were held June 8 at the Rose-Neath Funeral Chapel in Many with Brother Jimmy Price officiating. Interment followed in the Lakeview Baptist Church Cemetery in the Ebarb Community. He was born on October 10,2017 in Converse and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 4, 2017 while working at home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vance and Victoria Ezernack Etheridge; and brothers, Tenan Etheridge, Nolan Wayne Etheridge and Clifford Etheridge. He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Parrie Etheridge; son, Phillip Etheridge and fiancée, Misty Paddie; daughters, Candice Stewart and husband, John; Tetra Washington and husband, Damion; and Manda Rivers; brothers, Randy Etheridge, Herman Etheridge, and Joseph Etheridge; and sisters, Florence Schulgen, Sue Eunson, Jane Etheridge, Dorothy King, JoAnn McCormick, and Elizabeth Ramsey.

Funeral services for Modell Ford, 83, of Many, were held June 2 at Siloam Baptist Church with the Rev. Wilton Anthony officiating. Burial followed in the Siloam Cemetery. He was born on Monday, August 14, 1933 in Pioneer and passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. B. Ford and Almedia Ford and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Sybil Ford of Many; daughter, Connie Fuller and husband, Bo, of Rocky Branch; son, Dale Ford and wife, Laura, of Many; sisters, Eloise Wright of Shreveport and Brenda Ford of Delhi; grandchildren, Danielle Edgeworth, Morgan Burford, Emmy Tipton, Cody Russell, Tyler Ford, Taylor Bamburg, and Hunter Ford; great grandchildren, Chesney Edgeworth, Blayne Burford, Peyton Burford, Parker Burford, Cass Tipton, and Hattie Mae Tipton; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services for Barbara Anne Rhodes Jones, 76, of Leesville were held May 27 at Pinehill Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Blackmon officiating and Bro. Mark Christian assisting. Burial followed in the Pinehill Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.Barbara, the daughter of the Rev. Johnnie and Fanniebell Wester Rhodes was born December 27, 1940 in Many. She passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 in Sparta, Michigan. A lot of people  new her as “Bobbie.” She loved her husband, J.P. and they were married for 42 years. She dearly loved her children, Cindy and Frances; grandchildren Jason, Nikki, and Jake; and great granddaughter, Rikeigh Anne. She loved the Lord and her loyalty to Jesus was unwavering. She loved to tell people about her God.Barbara worked for the Army as a Civil Service employee for many years until she took a medical retirement. She was also an Army wife and supported her husband through many deployments.

Morris Hill

On May 22, 2017, Morris Harold Hill was gathered to his people. He was born October 1, 1951, in San Antonio, Texas to parents W.H. and Doris Galloway Hill. He is survived by his wife Jean of 42 years; sons, Lucas and Matt; baby girl, Rachal; mother, Doris Hill, sister Gay Berryman; beloved daughters-in-law, Beth and Samantha; and son-in-law, Jamie Miller. He is known best as Pawpaw to five spoiled grandchildren: Lucas and Beth’s daughter, 10-year-old Aubree; Matt and Sam’s sons, six-year-old Brody and four-year-old Brayden; and Jamie and Rachal’s daughters, five-year-old Rosalie and two-year-old Cora. Morris is a faithful member of the Lord’s assembly and attended North Street Church of Christ in Nacogdoches, Texas. He spent his life as a man of integrity and principle. He put the Lord and his family first, above all things. He was an example to everyone who knew him of how to be a husband, father, and provider. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.

Bobby Bass

Bobby C. Bass of Cedar Hill, Texas passed away May 13, 2017 following a battle with cancer that he fought fiercely. He was born December 11, 1951 in Shreveport, the son of Hoyt Cecil Bass and Mary Louise Parrie Bass and was raised in Zwolle. A proud US Army veteran, Bobby was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed taking cruises with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and sisters, Karen Bass and Judy Bass Miller. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ray Ann Campbell Bass; daughter, Marianna Bass; son, Michael Bass; mother, Mary Bass; brothers, Howard Bass and wife, Kay, Rodney Bass and Charles Bass; and sister, Patsy Bass. Special thanks to Mary Campbell Deaton and husband, Rick. A memorial service was held May 19 at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville, Texas.
