The Sabine Parish Police Jurors have been sworn in and are ready to tackle the upcoming year. Pictured at left is Clerk of Court Tammy Foster, who performed the ceremony. Being sworn in as police jurors are Thomas “Bo” Stewart, District 1; Mike McCormic, District 2; Charlie Brown, District 3; William Ruffin, District 4; Jeff “Gilligan” Davidson, District 5; Eric Garcie, District 6; Ricky “K-Wall” Sepulvado, District 7; Kenneth Ebarb, District 8; and Randy Byrd, District 9.

This past Sunday, January 26, marked the 12th anniversary of the tragic death of Millie Lambert, 70, of Noble. She and her husband, Larry, 69, lived in the 200 block of Trinidad Drive.

Mrs. Lambert was the victim of a lone shooter who entered her home through an unlocked side door in the early evening hours of January 26, 2008.

Her husband was in the front room of the home watching television when he heard a “pop”. Thinking his wife, who had been in the kitchen and doing laundry, had dropped a dish, he walked to the back of the home. He was suddenly looking down the barrel of a rifle.

The rifle exploded, with a bullet entering his upper chest. Lambert scrambled back to the bedroom to retrieve a gun, but when he returned the shooter was exiting his home. His wife lay dead on the floor. She had been shot once in the head.

The duo from Tennessee’s Bethel University bagged another five-bass limit, weighing a tournament-high 20 pounds, 15 ounces. That gave them a three-day total of 60-7 and sealed a convincing victory at this famed 185,000-acre reservoir on the Louisiana/Texas border.

Huff and Pierce earned more than $3,000 for the Bethel bass fishing team with the win. They also earned a spot in the College Series National Championship, which is scheduled for later this year at a date and location to be determined.

“This is awesome,” Pierce said, still clutching his tournament title trophy. “We went out there and worked our butts off all week to do it. It wasn’t easy.”
