Kings Chapel hosting annual MLK March

The 19th Annual Martin Luther King March and Celebration has been set for 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, and is being hosted by Kings Chapel AMEC. The program will be held at New Jerusalem Baptist Church at 11 a.m., with the march beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of Martin Luther King Drive and East Alabama in Many.

Investigation underway in Family Dollar armed robbery

City Limits at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4. Carter has a suspect in jail, but he has not been charged, she said early Monday, Jan. 5.

Procell case named year’s top story

The top story of 2013 involved the kidnapping, death and areawide search for Many resident Tony Procell, 25. Procell was taken at gunpoint from a New Hope Road home, east of Many on Aug. 20. Caught on surveillance tape was the abduction committed by Natchitoches policeman Robert Barthelemy. After a high-speed chase on I-49, the accused was  pprehended around 3 a.m. on Aug. 21 and taken into custody.  He was charged with home invasion, second-degree kidnapping and first-degree murder

One-vehicle accident sends one to SMC

sends one to SMC On Thursday, Dec. 26, a one-vehicle accident in front of the Wal-Mart Supercenter off of U.S. 171 north of Many sent one person to the hospital. Connie O’Leary, of Zwolle, was traveling north in her 2003 Trailblazer when another vehicle, described as a maroon car, pulled in front of her. In an attempt to avoid making contact, O’Leary swerved and left the roadway, hitting the ditch bank and overturning

Victim in law enforcement shoot-out dies

A 27-year-old Noble man, who was critically wounded in an afternoon shoot-out on Saturday, Nov. 16 by a La. State Trooper
and two deputies from the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office, has died. Michael Anthony Malmay died Thursday, Dec. 12 at LSU
Medical Center in Shreveport.
