New training facility provides safer Sabine

Article Image Alt Text

By Daniel Jones

A building is burning outside of Zwolle, but it isn’t what you’d think.

July 12 was a momentous day for the North Sabine Fire District and Sabine Parish as a whole, as the Fire District Regional Training Facility was dedicated with an open house and brief demonstration of how fire fighters will train at the new complex.

“This represents a huge expansion of fire protection training within Sabine and the surrounding areas,” said Nick Spann, chief of the North Sabine Fire District. “We will be able to run a variety of scenarios over and over, which will teach our local fire fighters and first responders how to respond to different situations through muscle memory. It’s just like basketball practice, the more you practice the better you become at the task.”
