DAR Sabine Chapter holds annual business meeting

The Sabine Chapter, DAR held its annual business meeting on January 20 at the home of Jennie Ogden. Delegates to the state conference and national convention were elected. Chapter reports were compiled for submission to the state and national societies. The chapter reported in 60 percent of the committees. Some of the highlights of the past year were recognizing a DAR Good Citizen from each of the parish schools, recognizing a graduating senior at each school for outstanding work in American History, continuing support of the Fort Jesup Society Children of the American Revolution, visiting Veterans in the nursing homes twice a year with comfort items, obtaining proclamations for the Native American Heritage month in November, and celebrating Constitution Week.

The chapter had 20 percent of its members reporting in the Service to America committee.

City Bank donates to Tiger Cheer Clinic

Laura Fredieu presents a donation to Jada Lee of the Many High School Cheerleaders. This donation will help fund the Tiger Cheer Clinic that will take place from January 30-February 1. The students will perform at half time during the MHS Basketball game on Friday, February 2.

DAR, Liberty, and French friendship

In October 2017, I had the incredible opportunity to take part in an historical tribute to the United States entry into World War I, the Franco-American Alliance DAR Tour.  It was a memorable experience that won’t soon be forgotten.

As a chapter regent, past LSDAR state officer, state chairman, and national vice chairman, I am pretty well versed in much that is DAR. However, a trip to France in the fall opened my eyes to so much more.

Cloverbuds learning to give back

Sabine Parish Cloverbuds are learning all about giving back to others. Their service learning project this year is cancer. One of the main focuses is the Relay for Life. Some of our members have started returning their bottles in which they have been collecting dimes. Pictured are Ali Sinitiere and Landry Holcomb.

Cloverbuds distribute care kits

The Sabine Parish Cloverbuds met in December and made chemo care kits for the Natchitoches Cancer Center. They were delivered around Christmas time.
