Ushering in Louisiana’s roaring 20s

The Roaring 20s were a time of unprecedented economic prosperity in America. A century has since passed. Can Louisiana and its oil and gas industry experience roaring economic prosperity once more?

Let’s take a look. One hundred years later, our nation’s economy is booming. Unemployment is at record lows, the stock market is at record highs, and it seems that everywhere you look, President Trump’s business acumen has acted like a shot of adrenaline for America.

Energy producers are no exception. Reforms of rules and regulations that had previously hindered industry growth have expanded offshore drilling, streamlined the pipeline permitting process, and made the United States an oil and gas powerhouse once again.

Patchwork

Several weeks ago, we hit a rough patch of losing our keys around the house.

Hubby-dear lost his first. We looked everywhere…..pants pockets, in coat pockets, under the furniture, in the Jeep, and all places in between.

He remembered leaving them on the table. We looked everywhere. He was sure the cat had knocked them off the table and they were somewhere on the floor, under chairs or the couch. We looked. No luck.

January was sooooo long, and February has just scooted by!! And now, March is ready to come into our lives. At the end of March, we will have already used up 1/4 th of 2020. Can you believe it??

March usually comes in like a lion (cold weather of winter is still around) and goes out like a lamb (ahhh Spring—warmer weather!).

I am anxious for Spring this year. It seems like we have had too many rainy and dreary days since January 1. People have been sick all winter long and are just tired of illnesses.

Speaking Out for Louisiana Citizens

LEGISLATURE GETTING IT TOGETHER

As the legislature is getting things together for the upcoming session of 2020 there are a few things that are certain. One is that they will be bumping heads on a lot of issues. Another thing for certain is that we all know the Governor has to be in the mix if possible. Another thing is that they all seem to express an interest in working together. It is much better to pass bills that the Governor feels he will sign. On the other hand, the Governor must be wise enough to realize that if a bill comes out with strong consent it is not a good idea for him to object.

Patchwork

Hubby-dear sent me to off to Walmart last week with a list of items he needed for the new extension. Apparently he’d forgotten them the day before when he went to Walmart!!

Arriving a little after 4 p.m., I headed to the Hardware Department—a place I am not familiar with, for sure.

I looked at my list. Paint. One gallon of interior white paint. Naturally, I was in the exterior paint aisle, so a nice young salesman showed me to the right aisle. Hubby-dear was kind enough to post a photo on my phone so it would be easy to find. The salesman found it and put it in my buggy. Fortunately, I realized I needed a gallon and not a quart….he exchanged it and I was one step closer to leaving Hardware!!

Valentine’s Day is almost here. Fellas, have you selected something for your sweetheart?

Valentine gifts have been out in the shelves of area businesses since Christmas!! However, I can bet that the fellas haven’t made their selections yet.

Jewelry, chocolates, perfume, flowers, a gift card and of course, a Valentine card are favorite gifts. Some celebrate their love with a dinner out; others prefer a romantic dinner at home.

It really doesn’t matter what your loved one receives…..it is the thought that counts.

Patchwork

I opened a bedside table drawer recently and out came hundreds of memories. Although I was busy writing, I took an hour or so and pulled the items out and looked at each one.

First of all, there were packages of school pictures of Davy and Paul. I looked at them all, remembering my little boys as they grew up.

Then I found packages of baseball pictures…..and I reminisced about all the teams we played on and the traveling we did. Hubby dear would go one way with Davy and Paul and I would travel the other way. Those were the crazy years when we met each other coming and going. However, they were good years, when the boys were active and we (the parents who followed the team) yelled and cheered. (And ate pizza after the games!!)
