Fort Jesup Society’s Wreaths Across America looked a little different this year but with lots of help from Seniors Mary Beth Tarver and Tori Flynn they still placed almost 350 wreaths at their official locations and as an official WAA Sponsorship Group, the Society had 819 wreaths sponsored. The Society supports the St. Joseph and St. Anne Cemeteries in Zwolle, Antioch Cemetery in Florien, the Many Cemetery, and Fort Jesup Cemetery.

Nicholas Tarver, National Ethics Chairman and Fort Jesup Treasurer, helped deliver and place wreaths at the Many and Fort Jesup Cemeteries. He was joined by L.S.C.A.R. State President and Fort Jesup Society Veterans Chairman Allie Tarver, and LS.C.A.R. Treasurer and Fort Jesup Recording Secretary William Tarver, in placing ceremonial wreaths.

Prior to the Annual Wreaths Across America event at the Alexandria National Cemetery in Pineville, Hannah Flynn, L.S.C.A.R. Vice President and Fort Jesup Society President, along with her mom placed American Flags at the graves of eight Jewish veterans to honor their service and religious traditions. They started this two years ago, when she and her mom walked the cemetery notating the names and locations of gravestones with the Star of David symbol and each year since they place flags to honor and remember these veterans.

The Fort Jesup Society would like to give big thanks to the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s office for providing an escort for the delivery truck and for allowing detainees from the Sabine Parish Detention Center to help unload and place wreaths at the Many and Fort Jesup cemeteries. Special thanks to ladies from the Sabine DAR Chapter and Kat and Donna Stevens from the Cane River Homeschool Group for helping as well.
