The Fort Jesup Society held a Rummage Sale at the Many Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center and it was a huge success. Society President Hannah F. and new member Gavin K. gave out over $200 in play money to residents so they could shop at various tables including clothing, accessories, knick knacks, toys, personal care and sweet treats. The residents were so excited they actually lined up about 30 minutes before the sale opened. Many of the residents found gifts for family members, things they needed or just something fun that caught their eye.

According to Hannah, “It was a lot of fun to help the residents shop. Some of my favorites were helping the gentleman who only wanted to look at hats and Gavin trying to get someone to buy a toy snake. I was particularly happy to see many of the stuffed animals I donated going to residents that immediately started giving them hugs”.

Special thanks to Seniors Mary Beth and Rick Tarver (aka Mimi and Papa Rick), the staff at the Many Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Mrs. Sharon Blake, Dr. Lynn Fitzgerald and Carol Ruth Key (Ruthie) for helping to collect items, set up and assist residents while shopping as well as cleaning up. Thanks to Fort Jesup members Haley F. for helping shop for a few things and members Nicholas, Allie, and William T. for helping collect items before their vacation. Also, thank you to the local Wal-Mart store for donating lots of shoes, slippers and personal care items.
