The Sabine Parish Back To School Rally is almost here, according to Chairman Mary Gore of Toledo Bend Ministries.
The event will be hosted at the First United Methodist Church of Many on Saturday, July 30. Doors to the Family Life Center will open at 7:30 a.m. with registration following at 8 a.m. Students in all parish schools, K-12, are encouraged to attend and pick up age-appropriate school supplies.
Donations from the community have been received from Toledo Bend Lake Association, Tabernacle of Love in Zwolle, First Baptist Church of Many, the Sisters of Grace Sunday School Class and Vacation Bible School offerings, both of Many’s First Baptist Church, along with the use of the First United Methodist’s Church facility.
Serving as Mistress of Ceremonies will be Third Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Elizabeth Pickett. The guest speaker will be Matthew Couvillion. Music will be provided by Michael Cutright of Zwolle.
The program will feature testimonies from local teens along with singing, and prayers. Boy Scout Troop 80 of Many, under the direction of Scoutmaster Kirt Voorheis, will present the colors.
Also featured this year will be outside demonstrations, and a free lunch of hotdogs chips,drinks and snowcones.
Inside the Family Life Center, various organizations will be on hand handing out information. Tables will be set up by the Daughters of the American Revolution, CADA, D.A.R.E, Veterans, and Prevention Alliance.
Students will have the opportunity to win a gift card for their teacher, through a drawing for the elementary, junior and senior high schools of the parish.
Back to School Committee members, headed by Ms. Gore, include Kenneth and Donna Ammons, Elizabeth Pickett, Harry Babers of Tabernacle of Love, Nancy Wright, Colette Parsons, Vicki Weaver, Allen and Vicki Isgitt, Tammy Holmes, Shantrece Hooker, Virginia Burkett, Matthew Couvillion, The Rev. Jerome Newsome of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, and the Rev. Brain Coplin of First Methodist Church of Many.
