The Sabine Parish Leaders Against Litter (SPLAL) has a new chairman, Ricky Yeldell.

Ricky Yeldell’s interest in environmental issues began during the many outdoor activities that his parents led their family through. Hunting and fishing were great ways to learn about and develop an appreciation for God’s creation. Both of his parents, his brother and he were active in the Boy Scouts of America in Bastrop, Louisiana for many years. He feels fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel through several states on hiking and camping trips during that time period. Along his trail to the rank of Eagle Scout, he earned Merit Badges in natural resource conservation as well as community service. These studies gave him greater appreciation for natural sciences and steered him toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Wildlife Management and a career as a Fisheries Biologist for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. He was assigned to Toledo Bend in 2001 as a Biologist Manager charged with overseeing the fisheries management of the Louisiana side of the reservoir until his retirement in 2015.
