Turnout was low for the July 11 election for Florien Chief of Police and presidential candidates for both the Republican and Democratic parties.

Locally, Herman R. Love was re-elected as Florien Chief of Police by 71 percent of the vote, or 97 ballots cast for. Opponent Jackson Kleven received 29 percent, or 40 votes. Unofficial turnout was given as 30.8 percent.

Donald Trump was the overwhelming choice as presidential candidate for the Republican Party with 99 percent, or 1,350 votes being cast for. The only other Republican candidate to receive votes in Sabine was Bill Weld, who received four. Statistic shows turnout was at 23.5 percent.
