According to reports on KJAS.com, Adam Falcon turned himself in to Newton County officials on Monday, July 29 following the alleged weekend assault of a constable.

Newton County Sheriff Billy Rowles told KJAS that the 34-year-old Zwolle resident and former employee of the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Department was arraigned by Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Brenda Smith on Wednesday, July 31 and remains jailed under a $250,000 bond on a charge of aggravated assault of a peace offer.

The incident happened on Sunday, when Precinct 3 Constable Holton “Bubba” Johnson, who serves the Burkeville, Texas, area was attending services at Toledo Bend Baptist Church when someone noticed a suspicious man sitting in a car on the church parking lot.  Johnson checked on the man and noticed he had a handgun sitting on his lap.

According to the report, Johnson tried to take the gun, but Falcon took off in the car and dragged him for a distance.  The constable suffered several injuries, with the most serious being to his face.  He underwent medical treatment and was released.

Deputies searched for Falcon throughout that day and night.  He turned himself in the next day and has remained jailed since.
