There is a reason Robyn Shoalmire, Britny Rivers and Randi Shoalmire are smiling at the ninth annual TBLA/Sabine SWCD Fish Fest. Fishing on Toledo Bend is relaxing and fun!

On any given weekend caravans of fishermen and boats are headed to Toledo Bend to experience the thrill of fishing. Professional fishermen, amateurs, and local bass clubs participate in tournaments at the Sabine River Authority’s Cypress Bend Park throughout the year. On the first Saturday in June youth fishermen will descend on Cypress Bend Park to try their poles to land any species of fish known to swim the waters of Toledo Bend for the tenth annual Toledo Bend Lake Association (TBLA) and Sabine Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) Fish Fest.

Approximately 150 youth fishermen will cast their rods on Saturday, June 1. Fishing time begins at 7:30 a.m. Fishermen can start fishing after they check in at the registration table. Weigh-in time will be at 11 a.m. The event is open to school age children registered in kindergarten through 12th grade for the school year 2018-2019 attending schools in Louisiana and Texas. There will be six specie categories for first, second, and third place. Specie categories are bass, bream, catfish, white perch, turtle, and other. All 150 fishermen must be pre-registered to participate.
