THE COWBOYS

By Pete Abington

Cowboy owner Jerry Jones was right up front last Wednesday when he stated that the Cowboys will stand for the National Anthem. He declared he wouldn’t support anyone who chose to stay in the locker room. Last week the NFL and the players union agreed to suspend the rule approved by owners this Spring that gave the players the option to stay in the locker room while allowing teams to distance players who took a knee or sat out during the Anthem. This was suspended when the Miami Dolphins reported that players who protested during the Anthem would be suspended for up to four games under team policy. Jerry Jones, last season, and then emphatically this season, said the player will be required to stand for the flag.

Wouldn’t it be good if all the owners woke up and told their employees to stand for the flag and not take a knee. It would be interesting what double talk you would get from a lot of these owners. It has been said they are actually afraid of their players and that if they discipline them they wouldn’t perform and would walk off from all that big money and luxurious living style they have. It will be interesting to see what the Saints do.
