J.R. “Sonny” Miller was recognized as Sabine’s Older Worker of the Year by the Sabine Council in Aging’s Senior Fall Festival on Thursday, September 28 in Zwolle.

Miller, 81, was deserving of the award, since he is in his 53rd year as the vocational agriculture instructor at Negreet High School.

Obviously, he remains active in the workforce at his alma mater, but he is also active at Oak Hill Baptist Church. He serves on the Sabine Parish Fair and Rodeo Board of Directors and holds membership in the Louisiana Agriculture Association of National Ag Teachers.

In his spare time, he enjoys working on his farm and raising cattle.
