A Sabine Parish grand jury returned an indictment of sec-ond-degree murder against Christina Rivers, 23, of Noble on Monday, August 7.

The charges stem from the drowning death of her two-year-old son on June 16. The indictment is under the provision of second degree murder, which deals with a death when there is no specific intent to kill but the offender is engaged in cruelty to a juvenile, a charge which includes criminal neglect of a child which causes unjustifiable pain or suffering. A conviction as charged could leave Rivers in prison for life.
