Jog your memory and think back through the years at some of the old terms we used to use. First, let’s talk about automobiles. What about the term “fender skirts” and what about “suicide knob” or “neckers knob”, which was the ball on the steering wheel. They also came out with “continental kits” which were rear bumper extenders and spare tire covers that were supposed to make our car look as cool as a Lincoln Continental. There was a term “emergency brakes” but latter on they were called “parking brakes”. Many today do not even know what a clutch is or that the dimmer switch used to be on the floor. Some of you may even remember the starter being on the floor, too. What about the time we had “running boards” and we could jump on the side of a car and ride it up Front Street.
