Kaitlin Byles loses battle with cystic fibrosis

Kaitlin Byles, 18, suffered from the genetic disease, cystic fibrosis, all of her life. She was first diagnosed at the age of less than threemonths old. The brave teenager has battled the disease for years with hospitalizations, treatments and medications. In the past eight months, Nov. 7, 2012 and June 4, 2013, Kaitlin had undergone two lung transplants. Kaitlin died on the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, just five days short of her 19th birthday. She is the daughter of Kathy Scaife Byles and Jonas Byles, both of Many.
