The Many Tigers saw their winning streak extend to four games after a stunning 50-0 defeat of the Winnfield Tigers during their homecoming game on October 8.
The game saw perfect weather and a strong Homecoming crown. The Many Tigers received the ball first after the coin toss, and quick ly made their way to the red zone before Jeremiah James put six points on the board with a rushing touchdown from five yards out. A two-point conversion failed.
Shortly after #3 Swazy Carheel recovered a Winnfield fumble, which gave the Tigers the ball on their opponent’s 17- yard line. Seemingly seconds later Jeremiah James was back in the end zone for his second touchdown. A 17-yard run got him there. London Williams then successfully completed a two-point conversion for the Tigers to gain a 14-0 lead. Shortly before the end of the first quarter, London Williams scored his first touchdown of the night to bring the score to 20-0.
Winnfield’s defense had one of their bright est spots of the night in the second quarter, when they forced Many to turn the ball over on downs. That didn’t pan out, as London Williams came through with a 23-yard rushing touchdown minutes later. After a point attempt the score had the Many Tigers up 28-0. The score would expand to 36-0 before the halftime whistle blew.
After the halftime events, Trent Williams hit paydirt with a fouryard rushing touchdown. Deacon Lafollette added the extra point.
Many’s last score of the game was an impressive 53-yard rushing touchdown by London Williams and another point from Lafollette. At the final whistle the score was 50-0. Many was victorious on Homecoming night.
The Tigers had a similarly impressive game the week before, winning 44-31 over the Red River
Bulldogs.
That game saw three Tigers score two rushing touchdowns each. Jeremiah James put up 213 yards on 20 carries with a long run of 53 and two touchdowns. Trent Williams had 16 carries for 91 yards and a long run of 13 on the way to his two touchdowns, and London Williams had eight carries for 117 yards and two touchdowns.
In that game, the Tigers put up 447 all purpose yards,. Jeremiah James led the team with 238 of those yards. London Williams carried for 117 yards and Trent Wil liams for 91. Tackett Curtis also added 19 yards to the total.
Defensively, Keaton Montgomery and Tylen Singleton led the team with five total tackles each. Jayvion Smart, Kedrick Gosey, and Jamarlyn Garner were right behind with four each. Garet Culverson registered two sacks and Trevor Mclendon picked up one interception.
This week, the Avoyelles Mustangs face the Many Tigers at home on October 15 at 7 p.m.
