Michael James Oxley, 71, of Sulphur passed away February 18, 2018 in his residence surrounded by his family. Michael was a native of Many and has resided in Sulphur for over 50 years. He retired as a welder from Local Union 106 and was owner and operator of Superior Linings of Sulphur. Michael was a Past Master and former Chaplain of Masonic Lodge Peace and Harmony 478. He was a former owner of thoroughbred horses and loved racing them. Michael also was an owner and breeder of Californian Show Rabbits, winning several times in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Marie Oxley; and his brother, Jerry F. Oxley. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Oxley of Sulphur; sons, Harold James Oxley and wife, Ashley, of St. Augustine, Texas, and David Oxley of Sulphur; grandchildren, Amber Rose and Michael Paul Oxley; sisters, Linda Oxley Munyon of Shreveport and Janet Powell and husband, Wayne, of Hornbeck; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held February 21 at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home followed by a Masonic service. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson and Robison and will follow the services.
