In a letter dated June 13, 2017 the Consul General of France in Louisiana, wrote: “Dear Mr. Anthony, I am truly sorry that your health doe not allow you to attend an award ceremony in your honor.

I am particularly moved, as Consul General of France in Louisiana, to award you the highest French distinction, through which the French Republic wishes to recognize your heroism during the Second World War. As part of the 83rd Division of the 331st Infantry Regiment, you not only fought in Normandy, in one of the fiercest battles against the Nazis, but also in the Rhineland and in the Ardennes.”
