Local students were presented first place awards in the Louisiana Association of Conservation Districts Auxiliary state poster contest by Mr. Alan Williams of the Sabine Soil and Water Conservation District at the Sabine Parish School Board Meeting on March 13. Williams announced, “It’s a privilege to meet with you tonight to honor students who excelled in the state conservation poster contest. We recognized our parish winners at a luncheon in December. The state competition is judged by the Louisiana Association of Conservation Districts Auxiliary to select first and second winners in five grade categories.
Ten poster winners are acknowledged with state awards in January each year. So from the number of ten winners you can tell we dominated the awards with three first place winners. This is the first time in 21 years that we have three first place winners. All three of our first place winners received a $75 check on the state level for their outstanding creations.
