Minutes after the paper was sent to press last week, we received word through Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) press release that Highway 6 was going to close down from September 26 through October 1 in Many between Church Street and Vandegaer Avenue.
The closure will cause a number or problems, as the intersection next to the closure is one of the busiest in the town of Many, as it is the junction next to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Traffic will be detoured from Highway 171 to Highway 175 north to Belmont and then over Highway 120 through Marthaville to the point the road meets with Highway 6 in Robeline. Local traffic is encouraged to use alternate routes during the closure.
In the statement, DOTD states that they appreciate your patience and to please drive with caution through constructions sites.
