The Court of Appeal, Third Circuit, in Lake Charles, issued a ruling last week against Cleco in its efforts to stall a lawsuit filed by Gulf Coast Spinning. The suit alleges Cleco made initial promises to GCS that went by the wayside, once negotiations with Macquarie entered the picture. The ruling against Cleco could have far-reaching effects and its customers could be left holding the bag. GCS filed the suit against Cleco in September 2015 for not fulfilling promises toward the construction and creation of a cotton mill in Bunkie.
