While National Tourism week in Sabine Parish did not see any big celebration this year, the local tourist commission is very busy. With tourism being one of the three main economic engines that turns the economy and creates revenue for many families in Sabine Parish, it also contributes over $2.1 million in local taxes to the Sabine Parish Police Jury and three of the major towns. In Louisiana, tourism saves each family $332 in taxes. The Sabine Parish Tourist Commission has two goals. The first is to increase overnight room sales and the second is to improve the quality of stay by developing local experiences that tourist can enjoy while here or that will aid in drawing them here. The commission operates from three sources of funding. The main source is a three cent hotel/motel, RV.
