Sheriff Aaron Mitchell announces Deputy Courtney Brandon recently received her P.O.S.T. Level I Basic Peace Officer Certification from the LaFourche Sheriff’s Regional P.O.S.T. Academy in Thibodaux.
Deputy Brandon received her P.O.S.T. Level II Certification earlier this year, but had aspirations of becoming a School Resource Officer. Brandon completed the 12-week Level I transition academy at LaFourche where she received 300 hours of training in Legal, Physical Training, Firearms, Active Shooter, Officer Safety Tactics, Radar/ Lidar, and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (S.F.S.T.).
Deputy Brandon has worked at the Sabine Parish Women’s Jail for approximately 1 1/2 years. Deputy Brandon is one of a few female deputies to receive their Level I P.O.S.T. certification while employed with the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy Brandon is now assigned to Pleasant Hill High School as a School Resource Officer under Captain James Campbell.
