In a special meeting held at 8 a.m. on July 29, Chevelos “Chevy” Medlock officially took the oath to represent the Police Jury’s District Four, stepping in to complete the term of the late William Ruffin.
Medlock’s appointment comes after Ruffin, who served the district for an impressive 34 years, passed away, leaving a legacy of dedicated public service.
During the ceremony, Medlock expressed deep admiration for the late police juror, acknowledging him as a tremendous asset to the community.
“Mr. Ruffin’s commitment to serving the residents of District Four was unparalleled,” Medlock stated. “I hope to honor his memory and serve the public in the same exemplary manner that he did.”
As Medlock embarks on this new chapter, he is committed to continuing the important work of enhancing the community and addressing the needs of residents. Medlock’s dedication to public service will undoubtedly contribute to the legacy of District Four that was previously set.
