Donnie was born on July 31, 1936, to John Wesley and Mamie Ward Sebren of Converse, Louisiana. He spent the greater part of his childhood in Sabine Parish and was a graduate of Converse High School. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves for four years. He later attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana, where he earned a degree in Education in 1960.
In June of 1967, Donnie married the love of his life, Linda Spears, and together they built a life on beautiful Toledo Bend Lake. During their more than 50 years of marriage, they were blessed with three children, Wesley, Melissa, and Lori; five grandchildren, Ashlee, Samuel, Sarah, Colin and Oliver; and one great-granddaughter, Augustine.
For over 41 years of his life, Donnie was a dedicated educator in the public education system and in the private sector. For thirty of those years, he taught agriculture at Pleasant Hill High School. Following the FFA Creed, Donnie believed in the future of agriculture and in instilling those values in the hearts of every student that entered his classroom.
Donnie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of more than 50 years, Linda Spears Sebren; his parents, John Wesley and Mamie Sebren; his sister, Mary Jordan; and his brothers, Buster Sebren, Jerry Sebren, and Jimmy Sebren.
Left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy are his son, Wesley Sebren and wife, Stacey, of Eros, Louisiana; his daughter, Melissa Sebren Monroe, of Pineville, Louisiana; his daughter, Lori Sebren-Faulk and husband, Michael, of Bossier City, Louisiana; his five grandchildren, Ashlee Sebren, Colin Sebren, Samuel Monroe, Sarah Monroe, and Oliver Raley; and his great-granddaughter, Augustine Dunn; as well as many beloved extended family members and friends.
