James Stringer was born on July 16, 1959. He passed away peacefully at his home in Florien, La on December 19, 2025, at the age of 66.
James Stringer, a devoted servant of the Lord, gifted art educator, and beloved member of his community, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, creativity, and compassion.
James received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern State University and was a gifted artist and educator. He shared his passion for creativity by teaching pottery and painting classes, inspiring students through his talent, patience, and love for the arts.
James married his beloved wife, Cristina Stringer, and together they shared 21 years full of love, laughter, and mutual support. Though he had no children of his own, his stepson, Christian Rolph, his stepdaughter, Angela Rolph, and, his nieces and nephews held a special place in his life and he deeply cherished the relationships he shared with them.
James lived a life rooted in his deep love for God. His faith guided his actions, shaped his character, and inspired everyone who knew him. He believed in serving others with humility and grace, and he reflected Christ’s love through his words, his teaching, and his daily life. He lived his life with purpose and left a lasting impression on family, friends, students, and all who knew him.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Cristina Stringer; his mother-in-law, Elsa Curbelo; his father- in-law, Enrique Curbelo; his stepdaughter, Angela Rolph; his stepson, Christian (Sarah) Rolph; his sister, Patricia A. Myers; and his brother-in-law, Van Barnhill, his brother-in-law, Rick (Nahal) Curbelo; his nephews and nieces, Jody (Pam) Squillini, Paul (Tracy) Squillini, JaNella Bennett (Eric), Sheilah (Richard) Melton, Jana (Scotty) Phillips, Mary Kay (Jeff) Hutchins, Vanessa Barnhill, Jeanie (Dwayne) Hopkins, and Michael Barnhill. His great and great, great nieces and nephews were like his very own grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pauline A. Stringer and Rudolph I. Stringer, sisters, Helen Craft, and Shirley Barnhill.
A memorial service will be held at Warren Meadows on January 7, 2026.
James Allen Stringer will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
