Fort Jesup C.A.R. Society members and seniors hosted two activities during the first America 250 event in Sabine Parish - “1776: Life on the Colonial Spanish Frontier” was held at Fort Jesup State Historic Site. Attendees enjoyed living history demonstrations and reenactments, learned how Spanish Louisiana was affected by the American Revolution as well as participating in the Society’s two stations, “Finding Fun in the Past” and “Piecing Together the Past”. Guests were able to use a metal detector to find a real dragoon button and keep it for a souvenir and learned about different pottery patterns and attempted to piece together broken pieces of plates, pitchers and more.
