Graveside services for Gayle Latham LeGier Smith were held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation was held on the same day from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr. in Shreveport. Officiating the service was Brother Mike Russel.
Gayle was born in Many, Louisiana to Floyd and Ruth Latham on May 7, 1945, and passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025, in Shreveport.
Gayle retired from Kast Metals Corp. After retiring, she enjoyed taking care of her beautiful plants and flowers, which was one of her greatest pleasures. She loved spending time outdoors enjoying nature which she found fulfilling as well as watching the birds, especially the hummers. She was a member of Victory Missionary Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Ruth Latham; her first husband, Harold; her sister, Pauline Saxton; her step-granddaughter, Nikki Humphrey; and her little fourlegged buddy, Gunner. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 40 years, Phillip Smith; two children, Kameh & Sanne LeGier of Joaquin, Texas, and Keith & Angela LeGier of Elysian Fields, Texas; brother-in-law, Mike Saxton of Memphis, Tennessee; step-daughter, Angela & Aaron Veach of Crosby, Texas, and their children, Hannah and Eiryn Veach; step-grandchildren, Kevin Humphrey, Jade Lacy, Jared Mayfield; and nephew, Scott Saxton; two grandsons, Jared LeGier from Omaha, Nebraska, and Jonathan LeGier from Honolulu, Hawaii; one great-grandson, Elijah; one great-granddaughter, Lilah; and five step-great-grandchildren, Riley, K.J., Everly, Addie, London, and Delilah.
