Calvin H. Jones. Born August 13, 1931 and went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 8, 2025 at the age of 93.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Staci Lynne Jones Lafitte and his parents, Dewey H. Jones and Doris Youngblood Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lorene Brandon Jones, one son Calvin Todd Jones and wife Missy. Four grandchildren Calvin Patrick Jones and wife Morgan, Robert Tyler Lafitte, Ashley Lynne Lafitte and Carson Lynn Jones. Three great grandchildren William, Merritt and Reed. One brother Bobby Jones and wife Maxine and son Jeffery and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Calvin was born and raised in Zwolle, La. Calvin and his family moved to Vivian for three years where he and his brother graduated high school. After graduating, he and his family returned to his home town, Zwolle. He married his beloved wife, Lorene in 1963 and they continued to live in Zwolle and raise their children until 1990 when they moved to Toledo Bend.

He served his country in the Air Force until he was honorably discharged on December 12, 1951 and took over the family business, Dewey Jones & Son in Zwolle. His career continued in the timber industry when he became a partner in Palmer Jones Timber Company and owner of Calvin Jones Timber Company. Calvin also had a major role as part owner and in management of Nursing & Rehabilitation Centers and on the Board of Director’s at Peoples State Bank.

One of Calvin’s favorite things to do was to travel with his wife, Lorene. Calvin, or Pops as most knew him by, loved his family deeply. He loved working in Sabine Parish and always had a sense of responsibility in his work. He was a humble, simple man who was well respected by all.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Zwolle with Bro. Marty Williams and Bro. Jerry Penfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Many Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many, LA.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Dustin Brandon, Jerry Brandon, Patrick Jones, Tyler Lafitte, Carson Jones, Gary Lee, Charles Ray Campbell and Garrett Walsh, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Palmer, Shelly Wiggins, Tommy Joe Andries, Chris Loupe, Jack Sanders, Pete Abington and Butch Ebarb.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the First Baptist Church of Zwolle, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Shriners Children’s in lieu of flowers.
