Funeral services for Jessie Alton Mahaffey, 102, of Many, LA, will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many, LA with Bro. Leon Manshack officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel.

Jessie Alton Mahaffey was born on Thursday, November 23, 1922, in Florien, LA. He died peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the Regency House of Alexandria, LA.

Jessie Mahaffey served on the U.S.S. Oklahoma at Pearl Harbor, then on the U.S.S. Northampton as an escort for the Doolittle raids on Japan. Both ships were torpedoed and sunk. The remainder of Jesse Mahaffey’s tour of duty was on the U.S.S. Frederick Funston, a troop carrier that went to Italy, then served at Iwo Jima and Guadal Canal as a hospital ship for injured marines. What a ride!!

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Inez Mahaffey; parents, John Brown and Mary Ethel Mahaffey; grandchild, Valerie Martinez; sisters: Myrelle Royals, Eula Virginia Cox, Lerline Gabler, and Imoselle Burris; and brothers: Clarence Mahaffey, J.C. Mahaffey, and Cecil Mahaffey.

He is survived by his sons, George Mahaffey and wife, Doris of Katy, TX and Clarence Earl Mahaffey of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren: John Mahaffey and wife, Brooke, Amy Mikolajczak and husband, Stephen, and Claudia Martinez and husband, Marcos; great grandchildren: Angela Munoz, Thomas Munoz and wife Amy Garcia, Xavier Jimenez, Charlie Alton Mahaffey, Maxwell Mahaffey, Birdie Mahaffey, and Ina Mae Mikolajczak; and great-great grandchild, Matthew Munoz; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be: John Mahaffey, Charlie Mahaffey, Maxwell Mahaffey, Paul Gaylord, Danny Ewbanks, and Pat Perkins.
