James Bullard (75) was born on October 30, 1949, in Pleasant Hill, LA to Wilmer and Cynthia Bullard, both of Belmont, LA. After a short 8-month battle with Stage IV kidney cancer, his body lost the battle, but his spirit won and is now at peace. Bubba was very fortunate in that he did not endure much pain, and his last wishes were granted by the good Lord Himself. He was able to pass peacefully in his sleep at his residence with family by his side in Belmont, LA on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
Bubba was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer and Cynthia Bullard, brother John Wilmer Bullard, Jr., and nephew, John Wilmer “Will” Bullard III.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 35 years, Lillie Ruth Litton Bullard, son Frankie Bass and wife, Kelly, grandson, Joshua Bass, granddaughter, Katy Bass, special nieces Angie Slay Taylor, Stephanie Slay, Connie Brown, and Kimberly Roundy, in addition to a large host of other nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Bubba lived an honorable life, gaining respect and admiration as a caring, humble, and loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend to many. Bubba started his work career hauling pulp wood with his father, followed by a short oilfield career but his true calling lied in telecommunications. He worked for BellSouth, AT&T, and eventually CPTel where he spent the majority of his work career and eventually retired from after 25 years. He was renowned for his knowledge in the phone industry, and most remember him for his quality of work and dedicated work ethic. He will be truly missed by many but most by the ones he called family.
Serving as pallbearers to honor Bubba’s life on this earth are cousin Timmy Cooper, nephews Steve Brown and Beau Litton, great-nephews Tyler Brown and Collin Brown, and very special friends Jeffery Sepulvado, Doug Howard, and Gary Prudhome. Additional honorary pallbearers are JW Johnston, Randy Byrd, Buster Gaddis, Tim Goodwin, Jimmy Lynn Golden, Ronnie Neel, Steven Lewis, Jarrad Rivers, and six very special men whom Bubba helped care for at SARC—John Celestine, Luther Wilson, Frank Church, Gleason Jackson, Eric Manning, and Willie Turner.
Services for Bubba will be held at Old Pisgah Baptist Church in Marthaville, LA with interment following at Spring Ridge Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill, LA on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Dean Johnson officiating. An honorary reverend the family would like to acknowledge is the deceased Bro. Glen Howard, whom Bubba had pre-arranged to officiate his funeral. Visitation will begin on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. for family and 4:00 p.m. for the public.
The family wishes to thank Warren Meadows Funeral Home for services provided, Dixie Stems for floral arrangements, and lastly, Elara Caring Home Health for the love and sympathy shown to Bubba in his last days.
