With humble acceptance of God’s will, Clarice Miller Dew, 95, was called home on February 11, 2025. Clarice was born on April 18, 1929 in Negreet, LA to Brink And Clara Blackwell Miller. She graduated from Florien High School and relocated to Many, La where she met the love of her life, John Franklin Dew. They married on August 13, 1948 and enjoyed 70 years of marriage. She was also a proud member of Mount Freedom Baptist Church where she tirelessly worked in the name of the Lord to keep her church community alive. In her earlier years, you could always find her working in the yard, hosting friends and family at her home, or cooking for everyone she loved. She made some of the greatest dishes that her grandchildren will surely miss. Sundays after church were always spent around her dining table and were full of love and laughter. Clarice valued family time above anything else. Little sister to her older siblings and baby brother, mother to Debbie, and Aunt Clarice to so many, she loved and cherished the many times they had together. Greatest of all, was her role as “Nee Nee” to her grandchildren (that she more often than not, referred to as her “own youngins”), great-grandchildren, and great-great grandson. Her grandchildren often “lived” with her and their Papaw during the summers and usually never wanted to leave their house. Clarice will be missed by so many.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Dew Adair and husband Jack, grandson Todd Adair, Sheryl Adair, and granddaughter Kerri Adair Nichols and husband, Brandon. Also left to cherish her memory are her great-grandchildren Erin Fore Beard, Wyatt Adair, Elizabeth Adair, Trinity Adair, Reed Nichols, and Rylee Nichols and great-great grandson Carson Beard. Clarice has a host of nieces and nephews that were very dear to her heart along with their children.
She is predeceased by her husband John Franklin Dew, grandson Tedd Alan Adair, parents Brink and Clara Blackwell Miller, siblings Prentice Miller, Myrtie Miller Hopkins, Annie Miller Dukes, Lovie Miller Barron, Louise Miller Bordelon, Alice Miller, Bobby Miller, Bonnie Miller, Stafford Miller, nephews Gordon “Shorty” Dukes, Bobby Dukes, Stacy Miller and Allen “Bubba” Miller, and niece Linda Willie.
Visitation will be at Warren Meadows Funeral Home on Saturday, February 15, 2025 starting at 11am followed by a 2pm service officiated by Bro. Wayne Chance.
Pallbearers are Charles Edwin Barron, Charlie Bordelon, Kenny Carter, Aaron Mitchell, Lamar Mitchell, and Chris Tidwell.
