The Many Bass Club’s July 2023 Toledo Bend Tournament took place the weekend of July 7-9, where the anglers could fish on Friday night, Saturday or Saturday night, or Sunday. Thirteen anglers fished in the tournament. An impressive 23.85-pound stringer was caught on Friday night but only one other five fish limit was boated in the contest. The weather was hot in the nineties during the day on both Saturday and Sunday. The Lake level was on a slow fall, and the fishing was challenging. The water temps were in the mid-eighties. The secondcaught on Saturday and the third-place stringer was caught Sunday.
Jimmy Campbell caught the first-place stringer which weighed 23.85 pounds and included the Big Fish which weighed 8.21 pounds. Jimmy fished the Mid-Lake area Friday night and caught his fish on plastic worms in 10 to 15 feet of water. Gary Moore caught the second-place stringer which weighed 15.85 pounds by fishing shallow water areas on the north end of the Lake utilizing frogs and soft plastics. Gary West placed third with 8.57 pounds and reported that he caught his fish on the South end of the lake by fishing grassy points. Gary West continues to lead the Club’s Angler of the Year race with 94.44 points. Jimmy Campbell jumped four places into Second with 86.07 points. James Edwards is in Third Place with 77.56 points followed by Johnny Flowers with 73.32 points, George Herr with 68.5 points, and Glen Swihart with 61.26 points.
