Margaret Smith, age 78, of Many went to her heavenly home suddenly on September 8, 2020. Katherine was born on October 22, 1941 in Alco, Louisiana to I.C. Knippers and Pawnee Self Knippers. Katherine was the oldest of three children.

Katherine completed her senior year of high school at Mt. Carmel High School, in Florien. Upon graduation, she enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served until she received an honorary discharge after marriage.

Katherine was well-loved and well-known in Sabine Parish after working at KFC, Walmart, and various places of employment. She enjoyed time spent with family and especially her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading and working her puzzle books. She also enjoyed traveling and wasn’t afraid to get in the car and go. While growing up, she attended Warren Baptist Church near Knippersville surrounded by family and friends. In her latter years, she faithfully attended Word of Truth Family Church in Many. We celebrate the life of Katherine knowing she had a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and is eternally in His presence.

Katherine was preceded in death by husband, Louis R. Smith, Sr. She is survived by three children, Deborah Ebarb and husband Ricky of Many; Louis R. Smith Jr. and wife Michele of Many; Susan Martinez and Husband Allen of Zwolle; four grandchildren, Nicole Allen and husband Daniel of Many; Louis R. Smith, III (Trey) and wife Shaina of Many; Alyssa Martinez and spouse Michell Thompson; and Leslie (Wink) Martinez; seven great grandchildren, Katelyn Allen; Micah Allen; Isabella (Bella) Allen; Mason Allen; Silas Allen; Katherine Smith; Reese Smith; Sophia Thompson; and Amelia Thompson; her brother, Dale Knippers and wife Janice of Noble; sister, Pamela Ensinger and husband Max of Fisher; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Chance and husband Lemoine; Jeremy Knippers and wife Susie; Jonathan Knippers; Doug Ensinger and wife Kasey; and Mari Knippers and late husband, David.

Pallbearers: Louis R. Smith, III, Steve Lee, Kevin Horton, Jr., Cullen Hoffpauir, Corey Eddington, Doug Ensinger, Daniel Boyens, Harold Broussard, Steve Baker (Honorary Pallbearer).

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Warren Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Warren Cemetery.
