Despite the high heat, the Many Tigers have been hard at work preparing for the upcoming football season, which was up in the air for a bit due to the coronavirus pandemic threat. They’ve completed their summer camp and began the fall camp on August 10. On August 5, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association released guidelines for the upcoming season with a number of regulations in place regarding social distancing and athlete safety.
The LHSAA’s guidelines were made with support from the NFHS, Sports Medicine Advisory Committee, Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, and local health officials. The rules were approved by the LHSAA Executive Committee on August 5.
The LHSAA openly acknowledges that no plan can guarantee that an individual will not contract COVID-19, and the recommendations in this plan are designated to mitigate the spread of the virus. They fully intend to support its member schools and student athletes who desire to compete in sports and continues to assess all areas as more information becomes available.
