Salter of Lumberton, Texas; step-children, Greg Faust and wife Missy of Mansfield, and Brandt Faust and wife Kim of Negreet; sister, Georgia Salter Bailey of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Jocelyn, Heather, Laina, Garrett, Cooper, Claudia, Sterling, Megan, Autumn and Ali; five great-grandchildren; honorary daughters, Connie Henderson Strahan and husband Travis of Zwolle, Janet Henderson of Shreveport, and Rhonda Henderson Spaller and husband Robert of Jacksonville, Florida; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Larry worked 46 years and one day in the oil industry. He served many of those years in the 120-degree temperatures of the Middle East; he knew the meaning of hard work. After retiring, Larry “the Mule Skinner” enjoyed trail rides in his covered wagon. Ruby and Sis, his pet mules, were his constant companions. Larry loved giving wagon rides and teaching children about the cowboy-way at the annual Zwolle Tamale Fiesta education day. To many, he was known as the Zwolle Cowboy. Every weekend, Larry and his longtime sweetheart and best friend, Martha shared a love of dancing and socializing. As the Cowboy rides into the sunset, he will be forever remembered for his clean and risqué jokes, folklore, storytelling, and his generous spirit.
