Barbara Lynn Tibbett Johnson, 66 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away on July 6, 2019. She was born on June 5, 1953, to Preston Percy and Lucille Veuleman Tibbett. She was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, David Johnson; parents; brothers, Mike Tibbett and Kenny Tibbett; and sister, Theresa Tibbett.

Barbara is survived by nephews, Justin Tibbett, and wife Gretchin and their children, Preston and Lauren; Jason Tibbett and wife Heather and their children, Bailey, Jacob, and Addison; and Kendall Tibbett and wife Lori, and daughter, Morgan; nieces, Ashley Tibbett Morgan, and husband Dennis, and their children, Dennison and Sawyer; and Sara Merchant, and her children, Joseph, Austin, and Emma; sisters-in-law, Linda Tibbett, Elizabeth Ann Tibbett, and Sue Short; and stepchildren, Dacia, Jennifer, and Landon Johnson.

Barbara began a long and fulfilling career as an RN at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in 1975. She held several positions throughout her career including floor nurse, operating room nurse, Quality Control Administrator, and Risk Management Administrator. She was a charter member of Krewe of Dionysos in Natchitoches and spent many years enjoying numerous friendships made and events.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Barbara’s closest friends for their support and prayers as well as to NRMC administration and staff for the compassionate care given to Barbara and her family. A special thanks to Dr. Matta and the ICU nurses.

A service to honor her life was held July 9 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches with Bro. Buster Jordan officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Grove Cemetery near Robeline.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers included Jim Sandefur, John Muckleroy, C.C. “Petey” Johnson, Bill McElwee, Jerry McElwee, and Wade Stephens.
