A celebration of the life of Elsie Mae Sibley Carter was held at Word of Truth Church in Many October 23. She was born into this world on August 29, 1931, the daughter of Ellis Kirkland Sibley and Bessie Wilson Sibley, and entered into her eternal rest with Jesus on October 20, 2018 at 87 years of age. Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 68 years, Jack Carter; sister, Frankie Piscitelli of Albuquerque, New Mexico; children, Mike Carter and wife, Cindy, of Knoxville, Tennessee, Carolyn Ricks and husband, Hanan, of Many, Jeffery Carter and wife, Lori, of Roswell, Georgia, and Ginger Dugas and husband, Glenn, of Lafayette; grandchildren, Jacque Ricks Thurman, Jimmy Ricks, Kathy Carter Gibbons, the Rev. David Carter, Amanda Carter and Travis Carter; great-grandchildren, Ty and Brooke Thurman, Sophie and Carter Gibbons; and many loved nieces and nephews. Those who welcomed her home are her parents; her twin brother, Ellis Ray Sibley; brother, Robert Sibley; and sisters, Helen Lehr, Clara Anders and Cleola “Kitty” Genaurdi. Elsie loved the Word of God and her greatest joy was to teach and disciple others. She lived a life of joy and touched all with love and compassion. Her shining light will continue to glow through the many people to whom she counseled and taught the Word. Pallbearers were Wayne Lehr, Bob Ward, John Genaurdi, Mark Forsythe, Paul Genaurdi and Scott Lehr. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Lehr and Allen Lehr. Special thanks with deep gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Kathleen Kautz, Elsie’s caregivers: Joy Beason, Charlotte Woodworth, Margaret Schexnaydre, Josie Bent, Amber Barajas, Beverly Rogers, Linda Thompson and Tara Thomisee; and to Kindred Home Health and Hospice of Natchitoches.
