William Harold Mothershed, 82, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018 at his residence in Kingwood, Texas. He was born January 4, 1936 in Florien to William Ora and Iberia Skinner Mothershed. He served his country in the United States Air Force after graduating from Florien High School. He later attended Louisiana State University, Mississippi Southern University, and graduated from University of Louisville. He retired from Chevron USA in 1992 after serving in various positions in Mississippi, Kentucky, California, and Angola, West Africa. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth Brown Mothershed; daughter, Kim Mothershed Philley and husband, Carey, of Kingwood, Texas; son, Hal Scott Mothershed and wife, Jill, of Nashville, Tennesse; grandchildren, Erin Philley Diez and husband, Cole, Blake Philley Wesley and husband,Bryan, Alwyn Elizabeth Mothershed, Leah Ruth Mothershed, and William Neil Mothershed; and sister and brother-in-law, Edith and Lynn Hawkins of Ruston. Visitation and funeral service were held Thursday, March 8, at Heritage Funeral Home in Moss Point, Mississippi, with the Rev. Michael Perry and Dr. Lynn Hawkins officiating. Burial was at Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa, Mississippi. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to First Baptist Church SBC, 4807 Main Street, Moss Point, MS 39563.
