Carolyn McKay Baker passed away at her home February 8, 2018 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. A graveside service was held February 12 at Many Cemetery in Many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon Reginald McKay and Janet Isabel McKay, and her brother, Peter Gordon McKay. Carolyn was born in Vancouver, British Columbia and moved to Many in 1969. She graduated from Many High School in 1971 and later graduated Northwestern State University School of Nursing in 1975. Carolyn accomplished an impressive nursing career with Christus Schumpert Health System which spanned a period of over thirty years. Carolyn cherished her colleagues and thoroughly enjoyed her profession. Carolyn was a proud and loving mother, a wonderful mother-in-law, a doting grandmother to five precious grandchildren, and a loyal friend to many. Carolyn is survived by her sons, Christopher Gordon Baker and wife, Sarah Grace Baker, of Shreveport, and Michael Reid Baker and wife, Regan Hall Baker, of Baton Rouge; grandsons, Reid Lamar Baker, Dean William Baker, and Shepherd Christopher Baker; granddaughters, Mary Collins Baker, and Carvey Anne Baker; brothers, Mark Alexander McKay and wife, Kay Danette McKay, and Donald Craig McKay and wife, Brenda Dale McKay of Frisco, Texas; her longtime companion, Frank William Jones, Jr. of Shreveport, his children and grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
