Eula “Sherry” Frances Dickey Dennis slipped away peacefully in her sleep to her heavenly home on January 26, 2018, in Natchitoches following an extended illness. Her husband, Jack Raymond Dennis passed recently. Mrs. Dennis was born in Cattina, West Virginia, and moved with her family to Central Louisiana during her early childhood. She enjoyed retirement with her husband having lived 40 plus years on Toledo Bend Lake. They both enjoyed the outdoors and were avid fishermen. Jack’s career took him overseas where she enjoyed living in Israel for two years and in the Dominican Republic for over a year. She had a true green thumb, and enjoyed gardening immensely. She was the owner of a hothouse garden business for a time. Her other interests and passions included crafting and cooking. While in good health, Mrs. Dennis used her talents to serve at her home church, Aimwell Baptist Church in Zwolle, by decorating for special events, leading crafts for children in Vacation Bible School, among other church activities. Services were held at Aimwell Baptist Church in Zwolle on February 3. Burial followed in the Aimwell Cemetery. She was also preceded in death by her children, Roy “Sandy” Hinton, Jr. and Tina Marie Hinton; parents, William F. Dickey and Myrl Baughman Dickey; sister, Toni Maxine Dickey Dlugosielski; brother, Cecil Norman Dickey; and her twin brother, Sidney Eugene Dickey. Surviving family members are her brother, James William “Billy” Jones and wife, Rita; stepchildren, Donna Dennis Nealy and husband, Barry, David Glenn Dennis and wife, Vickie, and Daniel Brent Dennis and wife, Lusi; two nieces; nine beloved grandchildren; and four beloved great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff of Natchitoches Regional Hospital and Hospice staff for caring for Mrs. Dennis. Much appreciation goes to Mr. and Mrs. John Lombard for their care and support. Special thanks are extended to all community friends and fellow church members from Aimwell Baptist Church for the love and care shown to Mrs. Dennis over the course of her illness.
