Brian Sherman Stewart Sr. was born June 22, 1979 to Vernell and Katie M. Stewart in Coushatta. He confessed Christ at Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. L.R. Cain. He later attended Greater Wayside Temple C.O.G.I.C under the leadership of Pastor Roosevelt Harris Jr. Brian is a graduate of Pleasant Hill High School, class of 1998 where he was a skilled basketball player. He is affectionately known as “Speedy,” “Nose,” “Barney,” “Chuck,” and “Buck.” Brian was united in holy matrimony to April Alexander Stewart on August 26, 2000. The union was blessed with two children. Brian was a devoted husband and father that always put the interest of his family first. He enjoyed vacationing with his family. He was loving, caring, and an exceptional provider. Brian had an outgoing and charismatic personality. He never met a stranger and there was never a dull moment in his presence. He always had a smile on his face and could always make you laugh. He loved riding four wheelers, working on cars and trucks, and installing stereo systems. Brian was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was very involved in Cub Scout Pack 1616. He also was a frequent volunteer in the Pleasant hill Pre-K class when his sons attended. Brian was preceded in death by his father, Vernell Stewart. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, April Alexander Stewart; sons, Brian Sherman Stewart Jr., and Alexander Vernell Stewart; mother, Katie Stewart of Pleasant Hill; sisters, Rosetta Marie Mims of Pleasant Hill, and Cloria Mae Moore and husband, Jessie, of Coushatta; brothers, Lionel Ray Stewart and wife, Reatha, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Jessie James Howard and wife, Joann, of DeRidder; aunts, Betty Jean Price of Palo Alto, California, Earliene Bates of Shreveport, Rita Montgomery of Mansfield and a close and special aunt, Rosie Mae Turner of Pleasant Hill; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
