Frances Loree Sneed Jackson, 88, passed away peacefully on the morning of December 19, 2017 at Sabine Retirement Center. Funeral services were held December 22 at the Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel in Many. Burial followed at the Florien Cemetery. Loree was born October 26, 1929 in Fisher to Clyde and Bessie Sneed. She graduated from Mount Carmel High school and later from Northwestern State University. Soon after graduation, she began teaching at Oak Grove High School in Sabine Parish. While teaching, she met the love of her life, W.E. Jackson, Jr. who had just returned from serving in World War II in the navy. They married on June 30, 1951 and soon thereafter moved to El Dorado, Arkansas where they owned and operated a Singer Sewing store, El Dorado Sewing Center, on Main Street for decades. Their fine work allowed them many opportunities and took them around the world to places including New York, California, Hawaii and Spain. Upon retirement, they returned to Many where they lived for several years. Loree was a talented and creative soul. Her interests included sewing, painting, teaching, decorating, collecting and refinishing antiques and clipping recipes. Mrs. Jackson’s survivors include her sister, Quinda Sue Sneed Sandel and husband, Warren Dewayne Sandel, of Florien; brother, Clyde H. Sneed, Jr. and wife, Peggy Ann Anders Sneed, of Many; sister- in-law, Helen Clement Sneed of Jennings; niece, Renee Sneed; nephews, Charles Harris, Arthur Sneed, Jr., Jerry Sneed, Terry Sneed, David Lynn Sneed and Phillip Sneed, along with a host of great nieces, great nephews and friends. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were her brother, Clyde Sneed, Jr.; brother-in-law, W. Dewayne Sandel; nephew, Arthur Sneed, Jr,; nephew, Phillip Sneed; great nephew, Phillip Sneed, Jr; great-great nephew, Blake Sneed and niece’s husband, Charles Blackford III. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.E. Jackson, Jr.; parents, Clyde Holman Sneed and Bessie Lee Landrum Sneed of Fisher; brother, Arthur Sneed of Jennings; sister, Orene Sneed Harris and husband, Clifford J. Harris and niece, Darlene Sue Harris all of Lake Charles. The family is grateful to the many caregivers, including Dominic Hudson, Shalonda Medlock, Lashunda Montgomery, Shadonna Garner, Jerrica Sweet and Mary Loyd, who provided friendship, kindness, comfort and loving care during Loree’s final year.
