Florence Clorine Ammons Blackmon LaRoue passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the Ouachita Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center where she had been a resident for almost 2 years. She was born on August 17, 1926 in Many. She is survived by one older brother, Emmitt Haskell Ammons; sons and their wives: Larry and Stephanie Blackmon of West Monroe and Dennis and Alita Blackmon of Greensboro, North Carolina; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mrs. LaRoue was preceded in death by her husband, James LaRoue; sisters, Nettie Mae lsgitt and Martha Jean Ammons; brothers, Cedric Ammons and J. D. Ammons; as well as a son, Marcus Blackmon. Mrs. Laroue was very active in Baptist churches from childhood, beginning in Sabine Parish, and then in the Shreveport area, Delhi, and in Natchitoches. Since her move to West Monroe, she has been a member of the Cedar Crest Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on March 29, at Memory Lawn Cemetery on Hwy 6 just east of Natchitoches, following a visitation at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home starting at 11 a.m.
