The first W.E. “Boots” Hayes Work-Study Scholarship was recently awarded to Northwest Louisiana Technical College student Melanie Small. Hayes was a longtime director of the Sabine Valley Vocational Technical School, now known as NWLTC. The scholarship stemmed from a collaboration of the NWLTC and the Sabine Parish Chamber of Commerce. Small has been working for the past several weeks and has already proved her worth through her excellent work ethic and dependability, Ammons noted.
