A celebration honoring the life of Aletha Beatrice Hyatt was held at Prewitt’s Chapel Baptist Church on September 17 with the Reverends Hoy Leach and Nick Hilton officiating. Burial followed in the Prewitt Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Hyatt was born September 7, 1921 in Sabine Parish. She passed from this life to be with the Lord on September 15, 2016. Born in a family of five children and losing both parents at a very young age, she was raised in the Prewitt’s Chapel Community in Christian homes who made a lifelong impression on her. Mrs. Hyatt was a graduate of Hornbeck High School. She was a loving wife and wonderful mother and grandmother. She was a faithful Christian, teaching Sunday school primary class for many years. She loved to sew and make quilts. She was a wonderful cook, and a meal was always ready at her home. One of her great pleasures was for the Pastor and family to have Sunday dinner at her home. Her food pantry was well stocked. The annual garage sale was a family festival with days of food and good times. She lived the last several years at Sabine Retirement and Rehabilitation where she had made a family of friends who called her “Miss Aletha”. The last member of her family’s generation will be laid to rest beside her husband in the family plot at Prewitt’s Chapel Cemetery. Preceding her in death are her parents, Kirk Allen Coburn and Bessie Brown Coburn; husband, Mac C. Hyatt; grandson, Joseph Lynn Hyatt; sisters, Ruth Coburn Jones and Juanita Coburn Glaspie; brothers, LeRoy and Milton Coburn; and daughters-in-law, Linda Cooper Hyatt and Gwen Morrison Hyatt. She was survived by her son, Micheal Hyatt and wife, Joy, of Hornbeck; son, Gerald Hyatt of Hornbeck; grandsons, Jon Hyatt and wife, Kristi, of Hornbeck, and Robert Hyatt and wife, Angelia, of Anacoco; granddaughters, Belinda Beverly and husband, Kevin, of Hornbeck, and Brenda Hanks and husband, Glenn, of Sulphur; great grandsons, Tyler, Jeremy, Joshua, and Cory; great granddaughters, Bethany, Caitlin, and Maranda; and great-great granddaughters, Kallie and McKanzie. Honoring her as pallbearers were Jon Hyatt, Robert Hyatt, Van Martin, Kirt Coburn, Glenn Hanks, and Chuck Reifsnider. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Corley and his staff, and the caring staff of Sabine Retirement and Rehabilitation. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Prewitt’s Chapel Cemetery Association at P. O. Box 185 Hornbeck, LA 71439.
